Phishing Attacks
Recently, many GMU students and faculty have been the target of a phishing attack via email - an email that pretends to be from GMU that asks for your e-mail username and password as well as other personal information.
Please DO NOT respond to these emails at all.
Never give out your Email Password, Patriot Web PIN, or any other personal information via Email.
If you are unsure, please contact the ITU Support Center at 703-993-8870.
The email team can only see that someone has responded, not the contents of the email sent, so even an email saying "I don't trust you" will result in your email account being closed.
If your email has been closed, please contact the ITU Support Center at 703-993-8870, the ResTech Hotline at 703-993-5111, or file a technician request, letting us know you've responded along with your full name, email username, and a phone number we can reach you at.

Windows 7
At this time, Windows 7 is not completely compatible with Mason's network. The networking team is currently working with the vendor for our campus' network protection, Juniper, to develop a solution.
Current Workarounds
Wireless Access via the gmu network: If you are unable to log in as a student from the uacwireless.gmu.edu page, please try logging in as a Guest instead using your gmu email ID and password.
Wired Dorm Connections: If your port is shutting off - i.e. The NIC card stops lighting up - you may be getting autopartitioned by the network routers. This is because the way Windows 7 finds networks is very similar to an attack type known as ARP spoofing. Please give us your wired MAC address by calling the ITU Support Center (703-993-8870), ResTech Hotline (703-993-5111), or by filing a technician request and we will work with the networking team to resolve your problem.

Secure Shell and the Odyssey Access Client
Trying to connect to mason.gmu.edu or zeus.ite.gmu.edu via the SSH protocol will not work if you are authenticating to the resident network using the Odyssey Access Client. Please try closing Odyssey and authenticating through the browser via uac.gmu.edu to get SSH connections to work. Note that you must reach the "authenticated" page, not the remediation page. If the page asks you to install something (such as Java, Service Packs, or Antivirus), you are not completely authenticated. Please be sure that you are running the latest version of Java (Version 6, Update 16), Mason's Symantec Endpoint Antivirus, and the latest Windows service packs for your distribution of Windows. The networking team has been informed of the problem with Odyssey and will be working on a fix.
