It is possible to connect your internet ready game consoles and other devices that are not able to authenticate using the 802.1x standard to the residential network to gain internet connectivity. Like a computer, each of these devices has a hardware address that must be registered with the Mason network for the device to have access to the internet. To register consoles or other devices, their unique adapter (MAC) address must added to the system by going to mydevices.gmu.edu with the devices MAC address. Currently, up to 5 devices may be registered per student.

 Xbox One Configuration

  1. Power on the Xbox One and navigate to the Settings page.
  2. Select Network
  3. Select Advanced Settings
  4. The MAC address will be listed next to either "Wired MAC" or "Wireless MAC". If you plan on using the wireless connection, use the "Wireless MAC;" if you are on the wired connection (recommended), use the "Wired MAC."
  5. On mydevices.gmu.edu enter the MAC address in the device ID field, provide a description that identifies the device to you and click submit.

Playstation 4 Configuration

  1. Power on the Playstation 4. On the main menu scroll over to the right and select "Settings."
  2. Scroll down and select "Network."
  3. Select "View Connection Status."
  4. On this screen you can find both your Wired and Wireless MAC address. If you are planning on using the wired network (recommended) the MAC address is located next to "MAC Address (LAN Cable);" if you plan on using the wireless network the MAC address is located next to "MAC Address (Wi-Fi)."
  5. On mydevices.gmu.edu enter the MAC address in the device ID field, provide a description that identifies the device to you and click submit.

Xbox 360 Configuration 

  1. Power on the Xbox 360 and scroll down (if necessary) to "My Xbox."
  2. Scroll to the far right and select "System Settings."
  3. On the new screen, select "Network Settings." 
  4. Select either "Wired Network" (recommended) or "Wireless Network" (if adapter is present).
  5. Select "Configure Network."
  6. Scroll to the right to select "Additional Settings."
  7. Select the second item in the list. The MAC address will be displayed on this screen.
  8. On mydevices.gmu.edu enter the MAC address in the device ID field, provide a description that identifies the device to you and click submit.

Playstation 3 Configuration 

  1. Power up the PlayStation 3 without any disc in the drive.  
  2. Once the PlayStation 3 operating system has loaded, select "Settings." 
  3. Once you are in "Settings" select "Network Settings." 
  4. When the "Network Settings" list appears, select the first option which is titled "Settings and Connection Status List." 
  5. The MAC address will be listed under "MAC Address." 
  6. On mydevices.gmu.edu enter the MAC address in the device ID field, provide a description that identifies the device to you and click submit.

Wii U Configuration 

  1. Power on your Wii U and go to "System Settings."
  2. Tap on the "Internet" button.
  3. Next, select the "View MAC Address" button.
  4. You will now see your Wii U's MAC address.
  5. On mydevices.gmu.edu enter the MAC address in the device ID field, provide a description that identifies the device to you and click submit.

Nintendo 3DS Configuration

  1. Power on the Nintendo 3DS and from the "HOME" menu, highlight and select the "System Settings" icon.
  2. Select "Internet Settings."
  3. Tap "Other Information."
  4. Tap "Confirm MAC Address." The MAC Address will be displayed on the screen.
  5. On mydevices.gmu.edu enter the MAC address in the device ID field, provide a description that identifies the device to you and click submit.
